Act Music

ACT Music is a German record label founded in Hamburg in 1992 by Siggi Loch. Working mainly in jazz, it has built a catalogue that moves comfortably between established figures and newer voices, with a clear feel for European jazz in conversation with scenes further afield.

The label’s range is part of its character. In the sample here alone, that stretches from Dhafer Youssef and Vijay Iyer to Mammal Hands, Emma Rawicz and Esbjorn Svensson Trio. That breadth helps explain ACT’s place: a long-running independent with an ear for contemporary jazz in different forms, from intimate trio work to more expansive, cross-border projects.
