Gold Connections’ debut EP was home-recorded in the spring of 2014 in Williamsburg, VA, and features production, engineering, and mixing by Will Toledo (Car Seat Headrest). It is comprised of the band's five best, earliest original songs written by Marsh while he was an undergrad of the College of William and Mary in Virginia. It was there that Marsh met Toledo; Marsh a freshman, Toledo a sophomore. The fated meeting is recounted below in the words of Toledo and Marsh themselves. Though Toledo won’t be a member going forward, he also plays drums, electric guitar, bass, and backing vocals throughout the EP. Gold Connections has toured with Car Seat Headrest and Futurebirds, and appeared internationally at Primavera Club in Barcelona, London Calling in Amsterdam and Mirrors Festival in London. Self-titled EP was produced by Will Toledo and released on Fat Possum in 2017. In 2021, Will Marsh ditched his music career, packed his bags and headed to New Orleans to pursue an MFA. Pandemic brain had firmly set in, so while Marsh dove into his work with Habitat for Humanity, he also found himself dazed and confused amidst such a turbulent time. Music wasn't at the forefront of his mind… but it chased him. Let's rewind a bit. Will Marsh started Gold Connections at the College of William and Mary, where longtime friend Will Toledo (Car Seat Headrest) produced and recorded Marsh's debut self-titled EP, released via Fat Possum in 2017. Two EPs followed on EggHunt, 2018's Popular Fiction and 2019's Like A Shadow. This leads us to Fortune, the band's brand new LP, out worldwide on October 25 via New Orleans indie Well Kept Secret. It's a record that sounds like \"a conversation between old Virginia and the buzzy psychedelic world of post-COVID New Orleans,\" according to Marsh. The eleven tracks on Fortune deftly navigate a geographical and spiritual journey: remorse, intoxication, anger, mystery, destruction, and regeneration, delivered with the same approach that NPR hailed as \"undeniably catchy\" and Sterogum claimed was \"an animal of its own.\" The result is a record that sounds like \"a conversation between old Virginia and the buzzy psychedelic world of post-COVID New Orleans\", according to Marsh. The previously recorded five tracks blossomed into eleven, fully fleshed out by a new band that included the rhythm section from fellow New Orleans band Motel Radio (Eric Lloyd and Andrew Pancamo), and notably, Marsh's younger cousin, guitarist Fraser Wright- himself based in New Orleans and pursuing a degree in music industry at Loyola University.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Well Kept Secret","offers":[{"title":"LP","offer_id":50990901264715,"sku":"2223774","price":27.99,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0867\/1120\/6219\/files\/Gold_Connections_-_Fortune_4addf469_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1734586943"}],"url":"https:\/\/shop.roughtrade.com\/collections\/gold-connections.oembed","provider":"Rough Trade","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
