It was recorded on June 2, 1964, in Hilversum, Holland, shortly after Dolphy had settled in Paris following a tour with Charles Mingus. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDolphy is accompanied throughout by an all-Dutch trio, which includes acclaimed pianist Misha Mengelberg. As the album title suggest, this was Dolphy's last recording date. He died in Berlin from a diabetic coma on June 29, 1964, at the age of just 36.
