You've got twangy, Tornados inspired, surf guitar instrumentals courtesy of the masked and caped crusaders of the Aire Valley - The Razerbills. Occasionally, they were joined by another Grease Gunner - John Cassette-vetes. These monikers might have seemed a little bit comical to some and inventive to others...but there was certainly nothing comical about Girl One And The Grease Guns. There was, however, something very inventive about them. Their sound was, predominantly, electronic and synth-based. Guitars were also utilised, but were never the dominant form of instrumentation. The influences included Yazoo, early Depeche Mode, Silicon Teens, OMD, The Human League, Tubeway Army, Crash Course In Science, Kraftwerk, as well as relatively obscure DIY acts such as Gerry \u0026amp; The Holograms, Solid Space and The Instant Automatons.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe music made by Girl One And The Grease Guns could be lush and loaded with pop hooks, or it could be stripped back... but still melodic. Occasionally, it would be unsettling and experimental, or raucous and jarring. The Edible Eyes' side was entitled \u003ci\u003eYou're Void\u003c\/i\u003e, and was raved about in the same Louder Than War review as featuring \"trippy, vibrato-laden synth\", also adding that, \"the underlying rhythm pulses through you, overlaid with a dreamy trance-like melody and a deliciously wistful vocal\".\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSissy Space Echo and The Invisible Collaborators then went on to release a 7\" on Old Bad Habits Label (based in Greece) This was a pure synthpop inspired stomper of a single, titled \u003ci\u003eThe Day The Earth Caught Fire b\/w They’ll Fix You (They Fix Everything)\u003c\/i\u003e, and it helped to solidify Sissy Space Echo and The Invisible Collaborators’ growing reputation as not being a band who you can sonically pin down very easily. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhich now brings us to this, the latest 7” single by both groups. \u003ci\u003eUntil The Morning Comes Around\u003c\/i\u003e by The Edible Eyes is another synth-pop sensation, lyrically dark and sonically eerie, in places. The sweet vocal melody is married to a moody beast of an instrumental track, complete with anguished cries emerging through the beats and the bleeps. But, slowly, over the next few months, The Blanche Hudson Weekend came together as a \"proper\" band - adding Chris, Sasha, Lee, Matt, and occasionally, Pete to the line-up. By early 2010, they were ready to start playing gigs. Over the next few years, they recorded and released two full length albums, five 7\" singles, one CD single and a 17 track compilation of single tracks and exclusive recordings. All of these were released on Squirrel Records and Odd Box Records. Most of these are now sold out and deleted.
