Alex and Andy’s paths crossed once again in 2017 at Youth’s Space Mountain festival in southern Spain, where both were playing separately before deciding to work together again. The album became a long distance work with audio files, ideas and inspirations flying back and forth between England and Germany via email, telephone and the airwaves of WNBC radio. Mixed by Andy in Germany, the album made its final journey across the channel for mastering and compiling in England under Alex’s guiding hand. All at once it’s rootsy and folky;\nelectronic and processed; minimalist and composerly; and not of this world.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eInitially proclaiming one morning in West Norwood, “it’s just two old blokes doing tunes”,\nafter a couple of coffees the good Dr Patterson began to warm up and divulge: “The first LP\nhad a great reception and sold so well I couldn’t even get a copy myself. Andy is brilliant at\nmaking ambient music, and working with him is always rewarding. We understand each\nother’s brains – it’s easy and organic - so doing another made total sense.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eSeti\u003c\/i\u003e stands for Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence, but it’s also something you sit on, to\nchill out, which is why the album contains a Three Piece Suite. This record is musical\nambience, which is what we like to make, rather than drone ambience, which there’s a lot of\nthese days.”\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOver email from his studio in Portugal, Falconer adds, “the first album The Heavens was very\nmuch a reflection of our shared roots, and in many ways saw Alex and I simply picking up\nwhere we'd left off 30 years ago with Ultraworld. For \u003ci\u003eSeti\u003c\/i\u003e, we still wanted to keep a\nconnection to the sound of The Heavens, but to also crack open that musical mould and\nexplore new ground.
