His soulful songs have been covered by \u003ci\u003eThe Rolling Stones\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eThe Grateful Dead\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eThe Kinks\u003c\/i\u003e and many others.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eUnfortunately, Slim Harpo passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on January 31, 1970 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 46. He was laid to rest in Mulatto Bend Cemetery in Port Allen, Louisiana.
