The album, titled „Vocal Group Madness - 14 Bam-A-Lam Vocal Group Rockers from the 50s and 60s“ showcases a selection of tracks that are hard to find rarely compiled. The album is a compilation of obscure and definitely rocking tracks from the archives of some of the coolest vocal harmony groups of the era, including The Ideals, The Eventuals, The Neons, and Little Anthony and the Imperials. Most of these tracks were previously only available on hard-to-find vinyl records and have been carefully remastered to bring them to their full sonic potential. The album features 14 tracks in total, each showcasing the raw power and vocal prowess that made doo-wop and vocal harmony groups such a popular genre during the era. Four volumes are planned. The original records come from the record box of our esteemed friend Duke Jens-O-Matic, who has been a graphic designer, internationally acclaimed DJ, collector and hunter for decades. Jens-O-Matic was there when we first breathed life into Stag-O-Lee and he delivered four volumes of the wonderful Jim Jam Gems 10" series. Each stylistically self-contained. He is currently working on further Jim Jam Gems volumes, but is struggling with the liner notes because "one has an educational mission!". Now to the record at hand: What does a friend of the obscure 7"es do when he already has everything in the field of Rhythm & Blues etc.? He is looking for other fields of activity. Different countries, different music, different influences. So does our Jens-O-Matic. He made a little trip around the world here, let his new love of cumbia flow in, mixed in a pinch of voodoo, reactivated some old blues heroes, plus some exotica - it never hurts. The great art is to combine these on paper disparate elements in such a way that something unique and consistently exciting is created. It was in late 2008 in the heart of Berlin when the three of us passionate record lovers and partners in crime decided to launch a new series of vinyl-only club shindigs. Our aim was to break with the usual one-style-all-night-long-fixation that was served at most other vintage dances around at the time. We had our ears spread and our minds wide-open for a vast variety of what we call the roots of our musical culture. Together we went on an ongoing trip - traveling back in time, digging deeper on the most dusty and faraway vinylistic shores, exploring heaps of lost treasures, black pearls and entertaining flotsam - always looking for the perfect beat to hop with. Ever since blending styles ranging from 1920s Charleston, 30s Swing & Jazz thru 40s Jump Blues, 50s Rockabilly, Mambo, Cha Cha, Cumbia or Calypso to 60s Surf, Big Beat, Ska, Rocksteady, Soul, Mod, Garage, Psychedelia, early 70s Funk, Afrobeat, Boogaloo, Bollywood and the whole world of mystic Exotica we were eager to please a growing crowd of crazy cats, joyful jivers and dirty dancers. Enjoy this wild aural selection of many different styles that should work perfectly for both - your booty shaking needs as well as your listening pleasures! 17 tracks recorded between 1966-1962. The first bands I wrote about were The Bongos, Go-Betweens and Josef K. Soon other writers joined the fold and the contents progressed towards garage punk, old (Chocolate Watchband etc.) and new (Fuzztones etc.), Australian classics (Radio Birdman etc.) and new bands (Trilobites etc.) as well as Cramps-related stuff (Tav Falco, Sting-Rays) and their influences (Link Wray, Trashmen).

About 2-3 years after the beginning a certain Hank Ray who had just started his band The Raymen also became part of the Glitterhouse writer crew. At the time I started a small mailorder (which is still active) with a bag of Citadel 7"s I carried home from an Australian visit. We also sold some cassettes. Among them was a series called Swinging In The Tombs Of Egypt which was compiled by Hank. Four C-90 musicassettes stuffed to the brim with surf instrumentals and (then) obscure rockabilly. Thankfully Hank is a well organized person and he found the original cassette inlays with the tracklistings as well as a fifth unreleased cassette. What Stag-O-Lee is doing now is re-creating the 38-year old Swinging ITTOE C-90 MC's in the 500 series. From track 1 of Volume 1 to the last track of the unreleased fifth cassette. Club top-cat, Fritz, then took the primitive Buzzsaw sounds online with a series of savage Mixcloud mixes created by record fiends from all over the globe. Now, the high-octane energy of Buzzsaw Joint has manifested into the physical form with a run of compilations on Stag-O-Lee. Get your ears around the wild'n'weird sounds of the extraordinary and inimitable Buzzsaw Joint! As usual with Stag-O-Lee they compile two vinyl volumes on one CD into 80 minute / 32 track monster! Sticker mentioning the bonus tracks!

In mid-2019 we started a collaboration with Fedor, an Amsterdam-based collector and vinyl hunter who devotes his free time to obscure and forgotten vinyl treasures from the 50s and early 60s. The original 45s come from the impressive collection of Fedor, who has rummaged through thousands of boxes of used vinyl at flea markets in the Dutch metropolis over the past 25 years. So far six 10"s have been released, all structured by individual topics.

Back then, Vol. 1: Wild Safari offered 12 exotic rarities on vinyl.
