Under his alter ego Wirefoxterrier, he has recently contributed music to the soundtrack of the web series SKAM Italia. \n\n'It is early September and dozens of days since we last saw each other. Our communication has been a hit and miss operation ever since. Last week you left me hanging at Krumme Lanke, texting back from Kantstrasse.' \n\nProduced in November 2017 for KW Institute for Contemporary Art's Compound series, Armin Lorenz Gerold's 'Scaffold Eyes' is a 45 minute audioplay, first presented as a multi-channel installation and a live reading performance. It is narrated by Gerold alongside London-based art and architecture historian Miriam Stoney and Berlin-based artist and filmmaker Doireann O'Malley.\n\n'It is a Tuesday evening in late August. She wanders through various streets linked to a canal that divides the district in two halves. Her thoughts are diffuse and further interrupted by looking at her phone relentlessly.' \n\n'Scaffold Eyes' traces the paths of four characters as they wander through the urban landscape of Berlin. We listen in to their meandering thoughts. The lines they walk are never straight, their narrated memories and observations oscillating between the diffuse and the precise. Berlin's cityscape echoes their psychological space, its dimensions distorted. The city's sounds blend into each other. Scaffold is everywhere. In juxtaposing the constant reshaping of this metropole with the transient lives of his characters, Gerold places us into a world seemingly in flux.\n\n\n'It is early September. I enter Kreuzberg 61's town hall through the main entrance passing by a porters' lodge A man is barely visible behind glass. Gently lit from the side by a small table lamp, half his shape disappears…' \n\n\nThe compositions seem algorithmic, yet mood-driven and fluid. Gerold combines spoken word with a collage of field recordings, ambient compositions and song sketches. For example, the faux-jazz of 'Love Theme of Scaffold Eyes' suggests a film noir theme while resonating with a characters' depiction of construction sites by night. He has two 12\"s on Diagonal Records – Blood Music EP (2013), and Chicks\/Badgering (2015) – digis on dingn\\dents and self-released works. \n\n'GPS Poetics' is influenced by Pomery's research into poetics and ethics: Fred Moten's writings on poetry and improvisation from 'In the Break: The Aesthetics of the Black Radical Tradition', Joan Retallack on Gertrude Stein, John Cage and aleatoric composition in 'The Poethical Wager', and Édouard Glissant's 'Poetics of Relation'. The notion of 'the centre' is exploded in favour of fugitive research into the relational. The result here is a live mix of cross-genre blood musics, given to that most freely proliferating, streamable, downloadable, capitalist communication of consumer taste: the DJ mixtape. Pomery's use of text and voice in Blood Music continues his investigation of text-sound compositions of the 60s and 70s. His 'infinity poems', which are algorithmically produced for print as well as for his a\/v show 'SPEED READING WITH BLOOD MUSIC', provide the visual art and language for his relational poetics.\n\nBlood Music has played Berlin Atonal (Germany), Elevate (Austria) Les Urbaines (Switzerland), Ochiai Soup (Tokyo), Club Stomp (Osaka), La Cheetah (Scotland), UH Fest (Hungary), Les Atelier Claus (Belgium), Incubate (Holland), a water tank in Lewisham and at Cafe Oto in London, where Pomery curates PRAXIS (2016-now), a series of events devoted to text-sound compositions.\n\n\n\"I might use GPS Poetics to help navigate a world: I use the indefinite article for 'world' here, since every relation to the immediate entity of experience that we name 'the world', through sensual or digital experience, is different and relational; infinitely plural rather than singular. Via GPS Poetics one can critique indifferent gazes in the age of the Anthropocene, latent voices that argue 'There are only surfaces' through the mouth of their screens: 'we are the Great Data Collector. Our violence is off the screen we speak through.' Their debut album All Hail Mega Force, released by The Tapeworm in 2022, was hailed by The Wire as a 'mesmeric disorientation.'\n\nOne year later, and with some blistering live performances at Iklectik, The Horse Hospital and the British Film Institute under their belts, The Howling are back with their second album release. Inspired by their passion for Trash Cinema, Hollings and Howlround have come up with Incredible Night Creatures of the Midway, which celebrates some of their favourite exploitation movies. 'Contents Warning' pays tribute to the quantities of sex, horror and violence to be found in the genre as a whole, while 'David Gest, Liza Minnelli, Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor' is a veritable Trash Aesthetics checklist. Each of the remaining three tracks is devoted to a specific movie dear to The Howling's hearts. 'The Skydivers' is a deadpan exposition of a spectacularly lacklustre 1960s soap opera set on a California airfield, backed by the throbbing of a customised street rod engine. 'The Picture of A Picture of Dorian Gray' is a pounding response to a 1970s Italian soft-core porn adaptation of Oscar Wilde's classic novel. Finally, The Howling are joined by Beth Arzy of Jetstream Pony and composer\/performer Ela Orleans for 'Miss Frost Miss Leslie Miss Frost', an exacting dismemberment of Miss Leslie's Dolls, a creepy Florida-based slasher flick rumoured to have been produced with money smuggled out of Castro's Cuba.
