The incidental is encouraged throughout the entire project, opener\u003ci\u003e HP Envy\u003c\/i\u003e taking its name from the household printer that sets its rhythm, offering overlaid lyrics that repurpose the words of a spam email received during its production. \u003ci\u003eAnimal Dream \u003c\/i\u003eand \u003ci\u003eMiniature Police\u003c\/i\u003e follow the same vein, the songs built from the verbal retellings of dreams. The name Total Wkts becomes an emblem of his approach. An unknown character singing from a neighbouring building is repurposed into a backing vocal on track ‘P.W.R.R.E.G’, the clatter of kitchen appliances fold into the haunting rhythm of ’Deadclub’. Newton explains his process further:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e‘Having spent a lot of my youth struggling to cast off the anxieties of the past and future, Total Wkts became a way of engaging with the presence of my direct surroundings. I just tried my best to ignore irrational worries regarding the traditions of production, and worked positively through the limitations at play’\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis sense of presence is mirrored throughout the production, whereby individual instrument tracks are left with their residue.
