Because when listening to Exile In Space, something inside plucks and tugs, pulls and stretches, usually about where most people suspect the heart to be. Melancholy just doesn't fit, is also a much too worn out term in music and has no place here.

What ENIK and the PARANORMAL STRING QUARTET create on Exile In Space in these eight musical gems goes deeper. Great sentences like: "Don "t pick up the Phone, it could be your mother! She wont candycrush herself out of this mess.", Enik has a terse robot voice recite in poem form in "Electric Sheep", while in the background an omnichord and a cello discuss which of the two is actually lonelier than the other. "TRUE MF", previously known by ENIK Solo as a real dancefloor banger, gets new dimensions (quite a few, actually) with decelerated, warm but still never and never cheesy string parts. These paranormal additions keep ENIK if necessary also sometimes on the ground - or rather in the cozy, warm room at the window, when he sings in the title track with Cervantes in his head about the rather less cozy world situation and dreams of exile in space (Exile In Space). In KANGAROO, Enik converses with a dead kangaroo, which abruptly admonishes him of his own transience and thus heartbreakingly questions the protagonist's excessive life. The song ends in a three-minute elegiac string improvisation, which for Enik personally, is the absolute highlight of this album. As a listener, you are left with the grating BETTY LEE at the end. A song that could well be 70 years old, but at the same time points forward into the future.

All in all, eight sparkling, weird, organic and loving songs that reach from the heart to outer space. America's cultural evolution and diversity is most palpable in folk music and roots music. 'New Roots Music', as it's called lately, examines the madness, cruelty and beauty of the 21st century. Folk music has always been more than just a chronicle of life in a particular time or region. It was always an expressive vehicle for understanding and processing fundamental questions of human existence. These days, it talks about rampant capitalism, increasing social isolation, unemployment, drugs, war and, of course, about god and love, about life and death.The term 'Roots Music' began to be used since the mid-1970s to draw the line at the commercialized folk music of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Recently, a wild and vibrant subculture of punk-inspired musicians has begun to fuse the musical styles of their ancestors with the sounds and the language of the 21st century. While there, I listened to one of my relaxation plucks on the harp, which I record from time to time just for me after the daily practice program.

During a blues improvisation I thought to myself that it is actually a pity if a blues is always over after a few minutes. How I would love to blues'n for half an hour or three quarters of an hour, quasi never ending ... and best of all play together with musicians I personally appreciate and admire. At home, the first thing I did was to call G. Ringsgwandl. He encouraged me and agreed to participate. At the same time I saw a documentary on Arte-TV about the OpenHeartProject in Sudan, where mainly children from all over Africa are operated on their hearts free of charge. This often involves valve replacements, since these usually break down because of the children's rheumatic fever. I myself received such a prosthesis at the age of 14 and owe 45 years of my life to this invention. Deeply impressed by the film about the great work of the people in this clinic, I decided to give the proceeds of my blues project, if it would come about, to this institution. After Georg Ringsgwandl, I asked Willy Michl, who as far as I know was the first to sing the blues in Bavarian, Conny Kreitmeier and Barbara Dennerlein, Nick Woodland (lead guitar), Manfred Mildenberger (drums), Luke Cyrus-Gˆtze (lap steel) and Tom Peschl (bass), as well as my friends from the Toten Hosen.

All agreed enthusiastically. Inspired by this, I called Helge Schneider, Stefan Dettl, Alan Bern, Konstantin Wecker, ZitherMan and Herbert Pixner. Each of them immediately agreed to record a contribution of two to four takes, without pay! The last ones to join were Christiane ttl and Andreas Rebers. With my siblings and relatives, as well as my long-time companion Gerhard Polt, everything was clear anyway. I thought to myself that a 12-bar blues, like a country dance, is a fixed form that can meander through all the keys like a brook. Each of them has a certain character that suits the musician or musicians best. The idea was to string the individual contributions like beads on a necklace. The continuous harp part would be the string that holds and connects everything together. To support the harp, Nick, Manfred, Luke and Tom joined in, more or less as The Band, preparing a foundation on which the players could then build their numbers. I was left with the very nice 'work' of playing various instruments on the respective takes, which is what I love to do anyway. But I needed help for that, because playing and recording at the same time is very stressful. I asked Beate Dichtl if she, free of charge like everyone else, would like to help from time to time. The recordings with her were so harmonious that she is now called Beate Well :-) The O-H-B begins in E-flat major with a variation of the premiere Arabesque by C. Debussy, which for me represents an interface between jazz and classical music. It ends with it again after a 40-minute trek through the keys in E major. Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the participants! Now I wish you as much fun while listening as we had while making music. She looks down from above, without any condescension, but from a kind of narrative bird's eye view. Sounds, melodies and cadences are her means of transportation of choice, and on her second album they bubble out of this young woman who sets out to explore existence without any effort whatsoever. Malva writes lyrics in German and English: "I feel what kind of language a melody needs". "A Soft Seduction Daily" tells of ups and downs, serpentines and curves, romance and melancholy, playing with words, musical styles and life in the subjunctive. On their second album, Malva begin to move in various directions, to explore the boundaries of their musical personality and so "A Soft Seduction Daily" sounds a little louder in places. What began in 1991 with a cassette, a VHS tape, and the legendary phrase "Attwenger means thinking in dialect, means dunking your skull in cider," has evolved into one of the country's most distinctive projects: slang punk, dialect avant-garde, and an anarchic groove that defies categorization. On "wos," electrically charged accordion lines collide with driving drum and sequencer beats. Words fray, stories swirl around, language is bent, stretched, dissected—and reassembled into a sound that is both deeply rooted and radically contemporary. Attwenger comment on the state of an overheated society without resorting to moralizing. Instead, they open up spaces between the lines: places for humor, escape routes, resistance, and liberating movements beyond expectation. "wos is. is wos." – this album leaves no one indifferent. It challenges, grooves, grinds, questions, contradicts. And it shows once again: Attwenger remain uncopyable.

With Maaya, Ami Yerewolo - widely regarded as the most important female hip-hop voice in Mali and West Africa - releases her fourth album and her first official German release. Maaya, meaning "humanity", is a deeply grounded, spiritual and intimate project in which Ami blends traditional Malian instruments such as the Kamal‚ Ngoni and Tamani with the raw force of contemporary rap. Fearless, outspoken and artistically uncompromising, Ami continues to break boundaries and challenge social expectations. Her songs express resilience, self-belief, perseverance and a clear commitment to her principles - themes that have shaped her artistic journey for more than a decade. Guest appearances by Jah Moko and Senegalese rapper Mina la Voilée enrich the album’s emotional and sonic palette. Maaya also marks a return to artistic independence: fully self-produced, deeply personal and anchored in Ami"s own story. It is an album that captures the spirit of a new African generation finding its voice. Powerful, rooted and unapologetically authentic, Maaya reaffirms Ami Yerewolo as one of the most compelling and influential voices in global hip-hop today.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/p_6d89cd48-6533-4ada-be7c-6f5767d40ac0.jpg?v=1781109999
le-mali-70-vol-02-so
Le Mali 70 Vol. 02

The Omniversal Earkestra features Salif Keita, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Abdulaye Diabate, Issa Bamba, Aly Keita and many more.
