Between 2002 and 2009, laudanum released 3 critically-acclaimed records (his first album System: On was the album of the month and of the year for MAGIC in 2002). The first two albums featured prestigious collabs (Aidan Moffat of Arab Strap, Laetitia Sheriff, Christian Quermalet of Married Monks, Angil…). In 2018, 10 years after stopping the project (because Matthieu Malon thought he had done the trick), and as he was about to turn 50, the desire to collaborate again with other voices and to reconnect the machines was reborn. 80 people were contacted, 20 responded positively, ie 20 vocal collaborations, to which were added a few other musicians (32 in total). 102 instrumental tracks were composed, 26 made it to the final selection... it then became obvious that a single record would not be enough, especially since Matthieu did not want to release a triple album.
