Leidecker has released recordings on labels like Illegal Art, Important Records, Bureau B, and Tigerbeat6. His podcast \u003ci\u003eVariations\u003c\/i\u003e, which explores the history of sampling and collage music, was originally commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona in 2009 before evolving into a lecture series at Mills, Stanford, Oxford, and Peabody Conservatory. After contributing extensively to Negativland’s live-mix radio program \u003ci\u003eOver The Edge\u003c\/i\u003e, spearheaded by the late Don Joyce and broadcast from Berkeley’s KPFA FM, Leidecker inherited the program in 2015.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003ci\u003eMonitress\u003c\/i\u003e is Leidecker’s first release with Hausu Mountain. Outside of his wide slate of collaborations and a number of self-published digital releases, the long-gestating album represents the first physical release of a Wobbly solo work since 2002. To create the takes that populate the album, Leidecker developed a process that exploits an arsenal of software on devices like iPads and iPhones. Mobile applications generate MIDI information from the external audio that Wobbly feeds into them, and then he retranslates and synthesizes that data into mutated semblances of songs. Given a chunk of audio as source material, these devices join together to produce densely stacked unison melodies, or spiral out of control when presented with complex polyphonies. In practice, \u003ci\u003eMonitress\u003c\/i\u003e explodes into every direction at once. Far from conforming to any standard playbook, Wobbly's conception of pop can't help but get warped and refracted through his idiosyncratic tonal sensibilities and his irreverent sense of humor. In consort with the constantly surprising turns of each guest artist's vocal performance, Additional Kids carries on Leidecker's ever-bewildering high-definition synthesis practice and his confounding production decisions as he builds tracks from staccato bursts of synth, clanging percussion, and garbled swathes of glitched texture. Wobbly considers Additional Kids to be a \"multi-generational album about generations\" and explains that it was \"originally recorded in the early 2000s from the perspective of a bunch of friends asking themselves the question of whether or not to have kids while in their early 30s, then finished 15 years later in their late 40s after some of them had, and some of them hadn't.\" Instead of wallowing in the trappings of pro- or anti-natalism, Wobbly and his collaborators cast themselves as jesters who can deflate these heavy existential considerations through parody and exaggeration, through abrasion and delight.
