Stars Of The Lid

A drone-based ambient music duo, Stars Of The Lid formed in Austin, Texas in 1993. Comprising Brian McBride and Adam Wiltzie, they draw inspiration from minimalist and electronic composers such as Arvo Pärt, Zbigniew Preisner, Gavin Bryars, and Henryk Górecki. Influenced by Talk Talk, Labradford, and Brian Eno, their beatless soundscapes are composed of droning guitars with piano, strings, and horns. Volume swells and feedback create dynamic movement within their songs. Described as "divine classical drone without the tedious intrusion of drums or vocals."
