From the fiery modern thrash of 2008 debut Conclusion Of An Age and its epic follow-ups, Edge Of The Earth (2011) and Monolith (2012), to the direct, holistic savagery of 2015’s Dormant Heart and 2020’s much-acclaimed Cycle Of Suffering, Sylosis have proudly flown the flag for fiercely sophisticated but defiantly uncompromising metal. Now armed with new music, Sylosis is to make a mighty reintroduction into the international metal world!

The sixth full-length in the Sylosis catalogue, A Sign Of Things To Come is instantly recognisable as the most potent and powerful of the band’s career. Comprising ten concise and crushing metal anthems, the new record covers a huge amount of musical ground while simultaneously delivering several metric fuck-tons of Middleton’s trademark, ripping riffs. Notable for being the shortest Sylosis album to date, A Sign Of Things To Come is also the band’s best: from the all-out thrash war of the opening ‘Deadwood’ and the snarling, groove metal fury of ‘Pariahs’, to the lurching sludge and sublime chorus payoff of ‘Eye For An Eye,’ and ‘Thorns’ shimmering, gothic doom vibes, the phrase “all killer, no fucking filler” has never been more applicable. Frontman Josh Middleton explains: “The title refers to people going through life on autopilot and being one of the herd. How a lot of people simply accept the way things are just because it's 'tradition' as opposed to taking a good look at the world around you and thinking for yourself. Sometimes there are catalysts that happen and change our perspective or consciousness…”

Dormant Heart retains the distinctive Sylosis sound; a mixture of intense heavy guitar riffs, breakdowns, thudding rhythm and Middleton’s growl. It’s difficult to tie-down the band into a specific type of metal genre. Stomping opener ‘Where The Wolves Come To Die’ unleashes an aggressive start whilst ‘Leech’ provides those breakdowns and epic choruses. ‘Mercy’ demonstrates the mix of galloping rhythm and melodic guitar riffs whilst Josh fiercely declares ‘there’s no redemption’. Aptly named closer track ‘Quiescent’ provides over 9 minutes of solemn prog showing a less forceful side of the band it’s ballad like in nature, with lyrics questioning "Maybe the flames are all they have?’ It’s softer in dynamic but the sense of impending doom remains ‘Fail to rescue// I can see// Now the line is drawn at our feet’.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/Dormant_Heart_4327471b_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1736507867
the-new-flesh
The New Flesh

When the going gets tough, metal gets heavier. Sylosis have always been devoted to the fine art of breaking necks, but in recent times, the urgency of their mission has grown exponentially. Still surfing on a wave of acclaim and the effusive fan response to their last album, 2023’s A Sign Of Things To Come, Josh Middleton’s virtuoso wrecking crew are poised to release their latest and best album, The New Flesh. A towering testament to destructive riffing, incisive melody and refined brute force, the band’s seventh full-length offering is a powerful showcase for the state of Sylosis in 2026: lethal, uncompromising, and avowedly metal as all hell.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/images_496ac3c4-a7b2-4fc6-94e5-e2c3bb3a5f8c.jpg?v=1764147459
