The band enjoyed a couple of hits \"\u003cem\u003eThe First Picture of You\u003c\/em\u003e\" and \"\u003cem\u003eYou Don't Need Someone New\u003c\/em\u003e\" in 1983, releasing one album \"\u003cem\u003eNo Sense of Sin\u003c\/em\u003e\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePressed on 180g vinyl in a newly designed gatefold sleeve with the original hand-scripted inner bag, the initial pressings include a bonus white vinyl 7-inch with the band's singles \"\u003cem\u003eIt Hurt\u003c\/em\u003e\" and \"\u003cem\u003eYou Don't Need Someone New\u003c\/em\u003e\", both of which did not feature on the original pressings of \"\u003cem\u003eNo Sense In Sin\u003c\/em\u003e\". The whole project has been under the careful tutelage of Jem Kelly, whose attic was raided to find the original 1\/4 inch master tapes for the remastering. Louis Vincent has also kindly supplied brand new sleeve notes for this edition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOriginally released on the band's own Arista subsidiary label Sylvan Records in 1984, the album was preceded by the single \"\u003cem\u003eFirst Picture Of You\u003c\/em\u003e\". The most played track on BBC Radio 1 in that long hot summer of 1983, the band who had never played a live gig, had previously done a session for the late Radio DJ John Peel, songs being hastily written in the spirit of the moment for that now legendary session.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe resulting album captured the band's sound perfectly, encompassing Jem's desire to expand on his previous work with \u003cem\u003eThe Wild Swans\u003c\/em\u003e extending the melodic driven dynamic and Peter's lyrics are an honest attempt to capture the intricacies of human relations. People forget these were two young musicians in the early twenties writing and this innocence gives the album its freshness that some saw as a weakness. Running their own labels (Stroboscopic Artefacts and Eaux, respectively), they have gained a cult following, both influencing and challenging the direction of techno. Their first collaboration took the form of mutual remixes. Lucy remixed Rrose, taking on his modern classic Waterfall while Rrose remixed Dadub for Stroboscopic Artefacts, and shortly thereafter contributed an extended EP as part of SAs Monad series. Eventually, the idea of working together became inevitable. Several intense sessions in Lucys Berlin studio followed, using mainly analog hardware. These sessions gave birth to a new project, starting with two EPs signed Lucy and Rrose, called The Lotus Eaters (SA) and The Lotus Eaters II (Eaux). With the Desatura album, the first release signed under the project name The Lotus Eaters, their common work is refined further, also becoming a live act which will debut at ADE (Amsterdam) 2018. With Desatura, Lucy and Rrose explore themes of physical density, emptiness, and space, creating sonic objects which can be rotated and viewed from multiple perspectives. Eschewing the typical instrumentation of techno, the duo use synthesized sound and feedback as fundamental sources to generate both textural and percussive elements. A sense of tension and weight emerge from sources that cannot be easily pinpointed. The resulting album forms a complex narrative from a paradoxically simple and restrained set of sound sources.
