After officially forming on September 3, 1975, Throbbing Gristle disbanded on June 23, 1981. Following the split, Genesis and Peter formed Psychic TV (with Peter eventually joining Coil), while Chris and Cosey continued as Chris & Cosey. In many respects Throbbing Gristle as artists, self-promoters, marketeers, label owners and music makers broke the mould on every level and decentralised the whole music making process into their own hands. It therefore came as no surprise when some of the most notable figures in electronic dance music jumped at the chance to re-work some classic TG catalogue. The record was originally released on Mute’s sub-label NovaMute in 2004, and saw reworks from DJ and producer Carl Craig, electronic duo Two Lone Swordsmen (Andrew Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood), Basement Jaxx’s Simon Ratcliffe, electronic post-industrial duo Motor (Mr Nô and Bryan Black), as well as TG’s very own Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti. Formed in 1975 from the ashes of performance art troupe/media guerrilla cell Coum Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle consisted of Genesis P-Orridge (1950 – 2020), Cosey Fanni Tutti, Chris Carter and Peter Christopherson (1955 – 2010). During their most active period of 1975 – 1981, TG fully delivered on punk’s failed promise to explore extreme culture as a way of sabotaging systems of control, releasing seminal records such as The Second Annual Report Of Throbbing Gristle (1977), D.O.A The Third And Final Report Of Throbbing Gristle (1978), 20 Jazz Funk Greats (1979) and more. Their impact on music, culture, and the arts has been immeasurable and still felt today. Originally released on Mute’s imprint, The Grey Area, in 1986, TGCD1 comprises forty-two minutes of studio recordings captured at their own Industrial Records Studio on a TEAC 8-Track in 1979. Initially serving as an exclusive piece of unreleased material for TG’s first-ever CD release, the record's dark and harsh droning sound stands as a significant chapter in their discography, showcasing the band during, arguably, their most formative era. TGCD1 is reissued alongside The Third Mind Movement - both vital additions for dedicated Throbbing Gristle and industrial music fans.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/Throbbing_Gristle_TGCD1_78239560_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1727855131
20-jazz-funk-greats-2
20 Jazz Funk Greats

Newly cut 180 gram vinyl edition that includes painstakingly restored cover artwork, using original source material from the Industrial Records visual archive. in addition it includes an exclusive large format 8-page colour booklet featuring an abundance of Throbbing Gristle archival material, including some previously unpublished photos of the band. Each vinyl release is limited to 2000 copies. For the first time in 30 years Throbbing Gristle are now back on their own original Industrial Records label. The remastered cd is presented in a gatefold sleeve featuring restored and remastered cover artwork and an integrated 8-page booklet. Also included is a bonus cd containing exclusive content from the year of release. The most well known TG 'studio' album was easily the group's most subversive. Rather than continue in the obviously provocative vein the pop culture of the time had been accustomed to, Throbbing Gristle threw a great curveball. By parodying easy listening sleeves of the 60s and 70s, TG sugared their output just enough to raise the profile of their work. Once lured in however, the listener is blasted with alternate soundworlds - from the musique concrete minimalism of tracks like 'Beachy Head' and 'Exotica' to their most cited track 'Hot on the Heels of Love' - the blue print for almost every leftfield electro track that followed. This perfect avant-pop record was released in 1979 and the rest of the music world is still playing catch up.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/791b6a6a-4746-41d8-9fc8-9d71ff07260b_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1733011794
live-at-the-volksbuhne-berlin-new-years-eve-2005
Live at the Volksbühne, Berlin, New Year's Eve, 2005

This release, previously featured in the TG Berlin box set and available on vinyl for the first time, captures Throbbing Gristle's unforgettable New Year’s Eve performance, part of a specially curated series of live events held at the Volksbühne, Berlin in 2005 and 2006.
