In almost every respect, this feels like a truer sequel to \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/album\/selling-england-by-the-pound-mw0000189986\"\u003eSelling England by the Pound\u003c\/a\u003e than \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/album\/lamb-mw0000650187\"\u003eLamb\u003c\/a\u003e; after all, that double album was obsessed with modernity and nightmare, whereas this album returns the group to the fanciful fairy tale nature of its earlier records. Also, \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/artist\/genesis-mn0000842802\"\u003eGenesis\u003c\/a\u003e were moving away from the barbed pop of the first LP and returning to elastic numbers that showcased their instrumental prowess, and they sounded more forceful and unified as a band than they had since \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/album\/foxtrot-mw0000196095\"\u003eFoxtrot\u003c\/a\u003e.
