Alongside musicians like \u003cstrong\u003eHelio Delmiro\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eMilton Nascimento\u003c\/strong\u003e (who were in the audience that night), they were there to see the great \u003cem\u003e\"Bruxo\"\u003c\/em\u003e (sorcerer) \u003cstrong\u003eHermeto Pascoal\u003c\/strong\u003e live in concert, with his new band formation which would become known simply as \u003cem\u003e\"O Grupo\"\u003c\/em\u003e (The Group).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe series of concerts at the Planetário marked the birth of \u003cem\u003e\"O Grupo\"\u003c\/em\u003e which would last with the same line-up (apart from \u003cstrong\u003eZé Eduardo Nazário\u003c\/strong\u003e) for the next eleven years. Every member of \u003cem\u003eO Grupo\u003c\/em\u003e was a phenomenal musician in their own right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIt was one of saxophonist\/ flutist \u003cstrong\u003eCarlos Malta\u003c\/strong\u003e's first gigs with the group, and the concert unusually featured two drummers, \u003cstrong\u003eZé Eduardo Nazário\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eMarcio Bahia\u003c\/strong\u003e. Nazário, from São Paulo, had played with Hermeto during the mid-70s (as well as with Milton Nascimento, \u003cstrong\u003eEgberto Gismonti\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eToninho Horta\u003c\/strong\u003e, to name a few). Bahia though had just joined the group.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAcclaimed keyboard player \u003cstrong\u003eJovino Santos Neto\u003c\/strong\u003e was on keyboards, piano and organ, and the great \u003cstrong\u003eItiberê Zwarg\u003c\/strong\u003e (who remains in Hermeto's band to this day), played bass.
