Ultra-Modern Rain shows why The Early Mornings are masters of unpredictability. Annie Leader and Danny Shannon met Rhys Davies and formed The Early Mornings in Manchester in 2019, after Rhys responded to an advert they placed looking for a drummer. The bands listed on the advert included The Breeders, The Velvet Underground, Fire Engines, The Feelies and Cate le Bon. After finding their feet in the Manchester DIY scene, word of their high-energy live performances quickly spread, leading to a well-received support slot with post-punk legends The Raincoats.
