Shortening their name to the \u003cstrong\u003eClimax Blues Band\u003c\/strong\u003e, the group recorded and released their excellent follow-up album, \u003cem\u003ePlays On\u003c\/em\u003e, later that year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBy 1970, the band had moved to EMI’s “progressive” label, Harvest, and issued their third album \u003cem\u003eA Lot of Bottle\u003c\/em\u003e later that year. The 1971 album \u003cem\u003eTightly Knit\u003c\/em\u003e was arguably their best of this period.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe band’s final album for Harvest was \u003cem\u003eRich Man\u003c\/em\u003e, issued in 1972. The version in this set is the original US double album running order (with the full version of Goin’ to New York).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eSense of Direction\u003c\/i\u003e was released in 1974 and was a strong studio album and saw the band gain further commercial ground in the USA and Europe, thanks to pieces such as the album’s title track.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eStamp Album\u003c\/i\u003e was released in 1975 and was the band’s first release on the BTM Records label (established by their then-manager Miles Copeland). Featuring such classics as \u003ci\u003eI am Constant\u003c\/i\u003e, the album was successful on both sides of the Atlantic. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe 1976 album Gold Plated was their final album for BTM and featured the classic top ten hit single \u003ci\u003eCouldn’t Get it Right\u003c\/i\u003e (for the promotion of which the band performed completely live on the BBC TV show Top of the Pops). The success of the single and the overall quality of the work ensured \u003ci\u003eGold Plated\u003c\/i\u003e was a hit album in Europe and the USA. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis clamshell boxed set gathers these four albums in replica album sleeve wallets and also includes a new poster.
