The album was produced by studio veteran Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Built To Spill, Father John Misty) and mixed by M. Allen Parker (Dan Auerbach, Sheryl Crow). Destroyers of the Soft Life began two years ago when Rod Walston (lead singer / guitarist / piano), Billy Gordon (guitar), Logan Davis (bass) and Steve Colmus (drums) purchased space in a Richmond, Virigina WWII era bomb shelter turned lumber yard. The foursome gutted and subsequently spent seven months transforming it into their own recording studio. As they put down roots Walston also became a father for the first time, inspiring lyrics that take an unflinching look at family dynamics and parental motivations. The band pursued a brighter, more nuanced sound that teased out the band’s latent pop sensibilities without skimping on energy or attitude. As you press play on the opening track You Know Me Better, anthemic guitars scream out of buoyant, hooky lyrics as Walston’s chugging piano supplies a persistent heartbeat. The “bar band” sound of the past has been replaced by an aspirational, booming cacophony that could fill stadiums.

LP - With Download.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/cb9d2c2a-2ad9-4743-89d9-577846a47d50_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1727728446
essential-tremors
Essential Tremors

J Roddy Walston and the Business release their new album 'Essential Tremors' through ATO Records. Released in the US last month, the album was co-produced by Matt Wignall (Delta Spirit, Cold War Kids) and Mark Neill (The Black Keys) and recorded in Valdosta, Georgia. Tucked away unassumingly in the town of Valdosta, Georgia is Soil of the South studios. Between meals of home cooked lasagna and restless nights on thin, spring-popped mattresses J Roddy Walston and the Business was the first band ever to settle in there to record their new album. No stranger to the south, lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist J Roddy Walston was brought up in the southern church hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee before relocating to Baltimore where he made the acquaintance of lead guitarist and vocalist Billy Gordon, bassist and vocalist Logan Davis and drummer Steve Colmus, now collectively known as The Business. 'Essential Tremors', the band's third release, is their most far-ranging and eclectic album to date. Their blend of classic rock and roll emphasised by rapturous hooks, riffs and rhythms, coupled with Motown flavour and funky charm brings out a pure Bacchanalian splendour. J Roddy's arresting voice and thumping piano playing travels directly from your eardrums to your bone marrow as he keens, croons and intones words and music that are at turns lunatic and mystic.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/1120/6219/files/4c216c39-aaa1-4f0e-82d9-caa62593db43_thumbnail_4096.jpg?v=1727991704
