After the world shut down and the tour was cancelled, Moses maintained a desire to share the show, but in a new way. Not just a live stream or recording. A film. A concert film. So, in the summer of 2020, the band re-convened in Asheville and designed the show for L\u003ci\u003eive From Blackalachia\u003c\/i\u003e. Moses\nrecorded the entire EP from his apartment in\nMid-City, Los Angeles straight to cassette on a\nfour-track recorder that TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek\nlent him.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo mark the 10 year anniversary of \u003ci\u003eMid-City Island\u003c\/i\u003e,\nMoses kept good on a promise he made to himself all\nthose years ago, broke and starting out - that he\nwould press it to vinyl in a decade.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eReflecting back on that period, Moses says\n“Mid-City, Los Angeles was more of a concept than a\nplace. Seemingly nobody had ever heard of it, and\nyet it was the geographic center of the city. Living\nthere felt analogous to my disposition as a “rising”\nAngeleno – highly visible and invisible at the same\ntime. I sat on my bedroom floor and wrote “Plastic.”\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThroughout his 10-year career, Moses Sumney has\nconsistently evaded definition as an act of duty:\ntechnicolor self-directed videos and monochrome\nclothes; Art Rock and Black Classical; blowing into\nFashion Weeks from a small town in North Carolina;\nseemingly infinite collaborators, but one staggering\nvoice.
