Jackie Mittoo shows his \nappreciation for Booker T and The MGs, the studio group at Memphis’ \nfamous Stax Records with ‘Hang Em High’, itself a cover of a film \nsoundtrack by Dominic Frontiere. Incredibly this version has never \nbefore been released. Booker T’s super-funky ‘Melting Pot’ is also \ncovered by the little-known Underground Vegetables.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOther versions include Isaac Hayes’ classic Blaxploitation soundtrack\n ‘Shaft’ again by Cedric Im Brooks track - another unreleased gem, \nstraight from the tape master. Motown gets a look in with Alton’s \nstripped-down version of the Spinners classic ‘It’s A Shame’, written by\n Stevie Wonder and Syreeta.  \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJames Brown is apparent in spirit with the JBs-inspired groove on the\n super rare cut “Now” by Lee Arab. Lloyd Williams similarly does a fine \nKingston-style version of the hardest working man in showbusiness on \n‘Reggae Feet’.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eVersion-wise, we have ‘Idleberg’, Cedric im Brooks tough instrumental\n cut on Horace Andy’s seminal ‘Skylarking’.
