That same year, \u003cstrong\u003eDeath Cult\u003c\/strong\u003e formed, with \u003cstrong\u003eAstbury\u003c\/strong\u003e joining forces with \u003cstrong\u003eDuffy\u003c\/strong\u003e for a musical partnership that has endured for 40-plus years. The band released two 12-inches that same year, one being the \u003cem\u003eDeath Cult\u003c\/em\u003e EP, which were subsequently combined and released as a CD. \u003cstrong\u003eDeath Cult\u003c\/strong\u003e is a vital transmission from the generation of Shamanic post-punk gothic futurists.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIn late 2023, \u003cstrong\u003eAstbury\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eDuffy\u003c\/strong\u003e reformed \u003cstrong\u003eDeath Cult\u003c\/strong\u003e for a series of live performances including a sole U.S. date at The Theatre at The Ace Hotel in Los Angeles and a limited run of U.K. dates including back-to-back sold out shows at the Brixton Electric. \u003cstrong\u003eDeath Cult\u003c\/strong\u003e became \u003cem\u003eThe Cult\u003c\/em\u003e in 1984, releasing \u003cem\u003eDreamtime\u003c\/em\u003e that same year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe seminal post-punk band has gone on to sell in excess of four million albums with numerous international and U.S. gold and platinum certifications. \u003cstrong\u003eIan Astbury\u003c\/strong\u003e (vocals) and \u003cstrong\u003eBilly Duffy\u003c\/strong\u003e (guitar) have released 11 studio albums over \u003cem\u003eThe Cult\u003c\/em\u003e's 40-year career.
