After Froese passed away in 2015, the remaining band members, \u003cstrong\u003eThorsten Quaeschning\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eUlrich Schnauss\u003c\/strong\u003e, and \u003cstrong\u003eHoshiko Yamane\u003c\/strong\u003e, carried on helping realize Edgar's vision for a conceptual album that attempts to translate quantum physics and philosophy into music. \u003cem\u003eQuantum Gate\u003c\/em\u003e was released to critical acclaim in 2017.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWith a new lineup, \u003cstrong\u003eThorsten\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eHoshiko\u003c\/strong\u003e have been joined by Berlin-based keyboard virtuoso \u003cstrong\u003ePaul Frick\u003c\/strong\u003e. The trio has spent 2021 in their Berlin studio working on \u003cem\u003eProbe 6-8\u003c\/em\u003e, a first glimpse into the forthcoming full \u003cstrong\u003eTangerine Dream\u003c\/strong\u003e studio album due for release in early 2022.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eProbe 6-8\u003c\/em\u003e sees the group's classic studio productions and late-night real-time compositions form a blueprint for slowly evolving ambient structures, with the band's sequencer-driven sound reminiscent of TD's early 1970's work combining with a lush 1980's crystalline bliss. The trio has composed and produced \u003cem\u003eProbe 6-8\u003c\/em\u003e with full access to \u003cstrong\u003eEdgar Froese's\u003c\/strong\u003e Cubase arrangements and Otari Tape Archive with recordings from 1977-2013.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe first track \"\u003cem\u003eRaum\u003c\/em\u003e\" is a nod to the band's early live studio performances \"\u003cem\u003eZeit\u003c\/em\u003e\" and \"\u003cem\u003ePhaedra\u003c\/em\u003e\", with a distinctive heavy Moog bass marking the beginning and the end of this 15-minute introductory piece.
