Formed in 1970, \u003cstrong\u003eC.C.S.\u003c\/strong\u003e (Collective Consciousness Society) was the brainchild of musician and arranger John Cameron, guitarist Alexis Korner (the father of British Blues), and producer Mickie Most.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe group was initially conceived as a recording band only, but following the success of their legendary cover version of Led Zeppelin's \"\u003cem\u003eWhole Lotta Love\u003c\/em\u003e\" (used as the theme for 'Top of the Pops' for many years) and \"\u003cem\u003eTap Turns on the Water\u003c\/em\u003e\", the band also undertook live work. \u003cstrong\u003eCCS\u003c\/strong\u003e featured the cream of jazz and blues talent such as flautist Harold McNair, bass players Herbie Flowers and Spike Heatley, sax players Tony Coe and Ron Ross, trumpet players Henry Lowther, Kenny Wheeler, and Harold Beckett, and drummers Barry Morgan and Tony Carr.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBetween 1970 and 1973, \u003cstrong\u003eCCS\u003c\/strong\u003e released three albums and seven singles for RAK Records, with one album and four singles all reaching the UK Top Forty. This Esoteric Recordings release has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features all of the band's recordings for RAK Records.
