The Triple Album Collection

If you are new to Talk Talk you get to hear how they went from an early eighties synth pop band to something altogether more musically exciting. The transformation from “The Party’s Over” to “The Colour of Spring” is pretty incredible. Don’t me wrong, the early synth stuff is good and the song writing on show, but by their third album you get to hear what the band wanted to sound like as opposed to what the record company wanted them to sound like. And of course the two follow up albums, “Spirit of Eden” and “Laughing Stock” demonstrate the band pushing their musical boundaries even further, to stunning effect. They went to from synth pop to something very much more organic. The last album “The Colour of Spring” is clearly the strongest album here, and really showcases the bands more experimental side, the music is thoughtful and emotional, with a more experimental jazz feel.
