The album’s central character is a “sleepwalker” trudging through the waking nightmares that have defined daily life since the release of 2024’s \u003cem\u003eEarthworks\u003c\/em\u003e. Because \u003cem\u003eTrue North\u003c\/em\u003e is music that dreams. Sonically, the band toys with the aesthetics of psychedelia, folk, and kosmiche music for contrast, creating a still pool into which their deepest anxieties ripple and flow and flower into ever darker shapes. And while the musical palette plays on tropes of peace—lush piano instrumentals, fingerpicking guitars, gong, vocal harmony—the subject remains steeped in environmental collapse, death, mental breakdown, and the rejection of our most closely held myths.
