Afro Celt Sound System

The Afro Celt Sound System is a band that was formed in 1995 by traditional African and Celtic musicians, along with respected figures from the UK music scene. Led by Simon Emmerson, the band has evolved over the years with various members and collaborators, including Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Sinéad O'Connor, and more. Currently joined by core members Johnny Kalsi and N'Faly Kouyate, the Afro Celt Sound System continues to create unique and captivating music.

Since its formation as a collaborative project, the Afro Celt Sound System has grown into a full-fledged band. The bonding of producer Simon Emmerson, co-producer and multi-instrumentalist James McNally, co-producer Martin Russell, and vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird turned this project into something special.

Over the years, the band has had an ever-changing lineup of talented musicians. Former members/participants include Davy Spillane, Demba Barry, Eileen Ivers, Emer Mayock, Griogair Labhruidh,and many others. They have also collaborated with renowned artists such as Peter Gabriel and Robert Plant.
