Ann Peebles

Ann Peebles is an American singer and songwriter, born on April 27, 1947 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She gained international acclaim for her popular Memphis soul albums in the 1970s on the Hi Records label. Not only did she sing hits for the label, but she also co-wrote them with Don Bryant, whom she later married in 1974. Ann Peebles' music has had a lasting impact and has been sampled by numerous Hip-Hop artists including RZA, Wu-Tang Clan, and Missy Elliott.
