Emeralds

American electronic music trio, Emeralds, was founded in 2006 and based in Cleveland, Ohio. Their improvisational style combined synthesizers and guitars with vocals, electronics, and field recordings. Drawing inspiration from artists like Tangerine Dream, Ashra, Coil, Terry Riley, and Popol Vuh.

In January 2013, *Mark McGuire* left the band followed by *Steve Hauschildt* two weeks later resulting in the complete breakup of the group.

Emeralds' unique sound has influenced a number of similar artists including *Oneohtrix Point Never*, *Yellow Swans*, *Windy & Carl*, *Belong*, and many more.
