Glenn Gould was a Canadian pianist known for his eccentric piano technique and personality. He recorded numerous works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schoenberg, Sibelius, Bizet, Richard Strauss, and Hindemith. In addition to being a pianist, Gould was also a composer, writer, lecturer, and producer of radio documentaries and television programs.
Gould had a unique approach to his performances and often assumed the roles of fictional characters in interviews and articles. Some of these alter egos included a British conductor named Sir Nigel Twitt-Thornwaite, a German critic named Dr. Herbert von Hochmeister, and a New York cab driver named Theodore Slutz of Brooklyn Heights.
Throughout his career, Gould made significant contributions to the world of classical music through his recordings and artistic endeavors. His legacy continues to inspire musicians and music enthusiasts around the globe.
