Harvey Milk

Harvey Milk is an experimental rock band that formed in Athens, Georgia in the early 1990s. Despite playing numerous live shows and releasing several singles and albums, they remained relatively unknown outside of their local fanbase. Their music draws comparisons to bands like Melvins, with slow and heavy riffs, but also incorporates influences from artists such as ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Leonard Cohen, and even Hank Williams. The band's name pays homage to Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first openly gay city supervisor who was tragically murdered in 1978.

It wasn't until years after their disbandment that Harvey Milk's singles and albums were re-released through various labels, notably Relapse Records. Their releases had been notoriously difficult to find during their active years. In 2006, the historic core members of Harvey Milk reunited to record "Special Wishes".
