Collection: Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong, born in New Orleans in 1901, changed jazz with his trumpet phrasing, improvisation and unmistakable voice. Known as Satchmo, he moved easily from small-group swing to popular song, with What a Wonderful World and Hello, Dolly! among his best-known recordings. Collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald remain a warm, easy benchmark for vocal jazz.
