Collection: Ricky Nelson
Ricky Nelson was a child prodigy born into a showbiz family. His father, Ozzie, was a bandleader and his mother, Harriet, was a singer. He gained fame through the TV show "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" where he appeared alongside his brother David. Nelson had an impressive music career as a 'Teenage Idol' in the late 1950s and early 1960s, earning nine gold records by the age of 21. His hit single "Travelin' Man" sold over 2 million copies and reached #1 in 32 countries.
In addition to his musical success, Nelson married Kristin Harmon in 1963 and they had four children together. Despite their later divorce, Nelson's career continued to thrive with hits like "Garden Party," which went gold and won him a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Recording in 1986.
Tragically, on New Year's Eve in 1985, Nelson's plane crash-landed near DeKalb, Texas resulting in his death. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park alongside his parents.
