Collection: Uncle Tupelo
Uncle Tupelo was a popular alt-country / No Depression band that formed in 1987 in Belleville, Illinois. The founding members were Jay Farrar (guitar, harmonica, vocals), Mike Heidorn (drums), and Jeff Tweedy (bass guitar, guitar, harmonica, vocals).
With their unique blend of country and rock influences, Uncle Tupelo quickly gained a loyal following. Their music resonated with fans who appreciated their raw and honest lyrics combined with powerful instrumentation.
Influenced by artists such as The Jayhawks and Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo's sound paved the way for the alternative country genre. They inspired a wave of bands including Whiskeytown and Drive-By Truckers.
