Blur formed in London in 1988, first as Seymour, with Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. Their run from Modern Life Is Rubbish to Parklife and The Great Escape helped define Britpop, while later records including 13, Think Tank and The Magic Whip kept stretching the band's pop instincts.
