Brainfeeder

Brainfeeder is the Los Angeles label founded by Flying Lotus in 2008, with a catalogue that moves easily between electronic music, jazz, beat experimentation and leftfield pop. That openness is the point: the label has become a natural home for artists with a strong musical identity rather than a fixed house style.

Its releases trace a clear line through some of the most distinctive records in its orbit, from Thundercat and Kamasi Washington to Hiatus Kaiyote, Louis Cole and Salami Rose Joe Louis. Brainfeeder works best as a scene in motion rather than a neat category, shaped by curiosity, technical flair and a real feel for adventurous modern music.
