Kategorie: Chiswick

Chiswick grew out of a second-hand 45s market stall in London and became one of the key homes for British pub rock as punk was taking shape. Founded in 1975 by Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong, later joined by Trevor Churchill, the label had the feel of enthusiasts acting on their tastes rather than following the trade.

Its catalogue catches that scrappy, high-energy moment from the mid to late 70s, with early releases by Motörhead and The Damned sitting alongside records by The Count Bishops and The Radiators From Space. Chiswick later became part of the wider Ace Records family, where it remains the imprint most closely associated with punk, power pop and straight-ahead rock and roll.
