Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry helped write the language of rock and roll. Born in St. Louis, he fused blues, country and R&B into sharp, economical songs including Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven and Johnny B. Goode. As a guitarist, singer and songwriter, he set a template that still feels clear in the music now.
