Impulse! began in 1960 as a US jazz label under Creed Taylor, later guided by Bob Thiele. Nicknamed “The House That Trane Built” for John Coltrane’s 1961-67 run, it became home to landmark work including A Love Supreme. After closing in 1979, it was revived and now sits within Verve Music Group.
