Joy Division

Joy Division formed in Salford in 1976, first as Warsaw, before becoming one of British post-punk’s defining groups. With Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris, they made stark, atmospheric records including Unknown Pleasures and Closer. After Curtis’s death in 1980, the remaining members continued as New Order.
