Kurtis Walker, professionally known as Kurtis Blow, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record/film producer, b-boy, DJ, public speaker and minister. He is widely recognized as the first commercially successful rapper and the first to sign with a major record label. His debut album in 1980 featured "The Breaks," which became the first certified gold record rap song for Hip Hop. With a career spanning over four decades, Kurtis has released 15 albums and currently serves as an ordained minister.

Throughout his career, Kurtis Blow has not only made a name for himself but also contributed to the success of other artists such as The Fat Boys and Run DMC. He has collaborated with renowned performers like Lovebug Starski, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Full Force, Russell Simmons and Wyclef Jean.
