Kategorie: Music for Nations

Music for Nations was founded in the UK in 1983 by Martin Hooker, after his time at Heavy Metal Records, and quickly became a key name in British metal. Its early identity was hard to miss: the beige label design with a small red Music for Nations flag became a familiar sight as the catalogue grew.

Based in London, the label moved to Carnaby Street in 1985 and continued issuing metal and rock records through the following decades. It closed in 2004, with the catalogue folded into Zomba, then returned in 2015. That history gives Music for Nations a particular place in UK heavy music: a label rooted in the independent metal world of the 1980s, with a name that has kept its weight.
