Pretenders

Pretenders are an English-American rock band formed in Hereford, England, in March 1978. They emerged from the British post punk movement and have since evolved into a mainly four-piece outfit with Chrissie Hynde as the only consistent member. The band has experienced numerous personnel changes over the years, but original member Martin Chambers returned after an absence of several years.

The current members of Pretenders (2017) include Chrissie Hynde on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Martin Chambers on drums and percussion with backing vocals, Nick Wilkinson on bass with backing vocals, James Walbourne on lead guitar with backing vocals, and Eric Heywood on pedal steel guitar with backing vocals.

Pretenders' notable ex-members include Pete Farndon and Robbie McIntosh among others. In recognition of their contributions to music, Pretenders were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 as performers.
