Pulp formed in Sheffield in 1978, with Jarvis Cocker as the one constant through years of lineup changes and gradual evolution. They spent a long time finding their shape before breaking through in the early 90s, then became one of Britpop’s sharpest voices without ever quite fitting its more laddish mould.

Records including His 'n' Hers, Different Class, This Is Hardcore and We Love Life trace that arc from outsider perseverance to sly, observant pop. Pulp’s songs are closely tied to everyday life, class, desire and social detail, carried by Cocker’s precise, conversational writing. The band split in 2002, reunited for live dates in 2011, and returned again for shows in 2023.
