Republic is the New York label founded in 1995 by brothers Monte Lipman and Avery Lipman. It began independently, joined Universal in 2000, then spent 2006 to 2012 operating as Universal Republic before returning to its original name. Its catalogue reflects a broad pop and hip-hop reach, from Lorde and The Weeknd to Taylor Swift.
