Kategorie: Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins formed in Chicago in 1988 and became one of alternative rock’s defining bands of the 1990s. Built around songwriter Billy Corgan and guitarist James Iha, they moved from the fuzz and force of Gish into the bigger, more ambitious sweep of Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

What keeps the band distinct is the scale of Corgan’s writing: heavy guitars, melody pushed right to the front, and lyrics that turn inward without losing momentum. After splitting in 2000, the group returned in 2006 and have continued to release new work, including ATUM and Aghori Mhori Mei.
