The Spinners are an American soul group originally from the Detroit, MI area. They were associated with the Motown sound in the 1960s and Philadelphia soul sound in the 1970s. The original members of the group were Bobby Smith, George Dixon, Billy Henderson, Henry Fambrough, and Pervis Jackson.

Formed in the early 1960s, The Spinners released their earliest singles on a Detroit-based record label. They later signed with a prominent soul music label and released a string of successful singles from 1964-1971. One of their notable hits during this time was "[m=259857]," which was written by Stevie Wonder.

In the early 1970s, The Spinners parted ways with Motown and signed with another record label. During this period, they had more chart-topping success with songs like "[m=319319]" and "[m=49121]," both produced by renowned producer [a164262]. However, their biggest hit came in 1980 with "[m=49131]," which reached #2 on the Billboard charts and was produced by [a91815].
