American latin-jazz percussionist, Willie Bobo, was a key player in shaping the evolving boogaloo style. Born as William Correa on February 28, 1934 in New York City, he played professionally from the early 1950s until his untimely death on September 15, 1983 in Los Angeles. Bobo fused influences from jazz, latin, soul, and rock during the late 1960s and 1970s. His contributions to music continue to be celebrated today.
